BEN’s Attic is Penn’s online marketplace for redistributing surplus University property. The platform makes it easy for Schools and Centers to give new life to items they no longer need, from lab equipment and furniture to office supplies. By connecting departments and promoting reuse, BEN’s Attic helps reduce waste, lower costs, and support Penn’s Climate and Sustainability Action Plan -advancing a more sustainable campus community.

I'm Searching For Feature   

Looking for a small office table, 36" diameter or thereabouts. I am hoping to take an unneeded one off someone's hands for free, but could pay up to $40.

Quick Tips

  • This site is for departmental use only. Personal purchases are not permitted.
  • Ben’s Attic is available to all Penn faculty and staff for listing and purchasing items. A valid PennKey and password are required to log in.
  • When posting or purchasing items, users must provide the name of their department’s Business Administrator
  • First-time users are automatically registered as a “Browser.” To list or purchase items, you must upgrade your role to “Buyer/Seller.”
  • Please review and follow all application policies.
  • Buyers should contact the seller and schedule an appointment before viewing items.
  • Buyers and sellers are encouraged to coordinate transportation of purchased items.
  • If an item must be removed by a specific date, sellers should clearly note the deadline in the item description.
  • Ben’s Attic tracks savings from repurposed items using the “Market Value” field. This represents the estimated value of the item and is used for internal reporting. Please provide your best estimate when listing items.
  • “I’m Searching For” Feature - Can’t find what you need on Ben’s Attic? Submit a request. Email BensAttic@upenn.edu with a brief description of the item and the **maximum price** you’re willing to pay. Your request will be posted for the community to view—someone may have exactly what you’re looking for.
